Anders International

A lot of people choose Anders Languages for its proven high value for the money invested. When participating in a residential French, German and Dutch course at Anders Languages, you will be able to learn in ONE WEEK the same that you would have learned in SIX WEEKS somewhere else! There are several reasons why your learning progress will be much higher at Anders Languages than elsewhere:

The only real total immersion experience!

The language school business uses the term ‘language immersion’ to designate French, German and Dutch courses which of 4 to 5 hours per day of group language instruction, in combination with family stays. Although these French, German and Dutch courses are very interesting, they remain far behind the results a residential French, German and Dutch course can offer you. Four to five hours of ‘French, German and Dutch immersion’ is NOT a lot, certainly when taking into account that you need more than 500 hours of courses to get to an advanced level. Secondly, stays with local families don’t necessarily contribute to improving your French, German and Dutch. Families are not teachers, and don’t have the pedagogical skills to significantly help you. It’s one thing to speak a language, and another to teach it! At Anders Languages, highly qualified teachers will be with you, from breakfast through the evening activities.

One-on-one instruction.

It’s proven that the learning speed of one on one instruction is almost double that of regular group classes. During class, the presence of other students is more a disadvantage than an advantage. Other students rarely share your objectives, learning abilities and level. Remember, ‘a chain is only as strong as its weakest link’. On the other hand, it’s true that interaction with other students can be very interesting and enriching. Therefore, we provide plenty of time for interaction among the students during the breaks, meals and the evening activities along with the instructors. All the benefits of one-on-one instruction without the disadvantages! Couples or friends, can chose the option of two-on-one classes, almost as effective as one-on-one, especially if the levels are similar.

An ideal balance between learning & fun.

The Anders Languages residences environment is thought out to provide a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. You can focus 100% on your objective: learning French, German and Dutch. The residence itself is located in an exclusive and safe neighborhood, perfect for walking or for jogging. At the residence, the owners themselves make sure you get personalized attention. The swimming pool and the garden are for your enjoyment during your free time. All our rooms are spacious and comfortable and have a desk with reading light. Some of our rooms have Internet access, satellite TV and even a Jacuzzi! All this, plus delicious home made meals with a Mexican flair, make your stay unforgettable.

An approved learning methodology.

Worldwide, the two most used learning methodologies are the ‘grammatical approach’ and the ‘conversational approach’. The former offers a structured way of learning, but is particularly difficult if the student has little or no knowledge about… grammar itself! When the students’ native language has no grammar, as in the case of some Asian languages, this methodology is even useless. The ‘conversational approach’ avoids the problems attributed to the grammatical approach, but is less structured and more difficult for beginners and intermediate levels. At Anders Languages we use another methodology, named ARA. As this methodology requires highly trained teaching professionals, it is only used in premium schools. However, it provides results no other methodology can boast. Developed 30 years ago in Belgium (a country with a long history in language learning) by one of the founders of Anders Languages and the University of Louvain, the ARA learning method can best be compared with the way a child learns his/her native language: speak it, and then understand it!

You live and receive your courses at the owners home.

The traditional programs offer family stays as a way to continue improving your French, German and Dutch and learning more about the culture of your host country, outside class. Although this can be a enriching experience, this system does not always work very well. Many host families try to improve their own knowledge of foreign languages by using the student as their own private tutor. Then, too, family members where you are hosted are not professional teachers, which can cause confusion and slow the learning process. At Anders Languages, you are not hosted with a local family. You reside at the owner’s home, and the owners are French, German and Dutch language teachers themselves. This fact guarantees you a professional and personalized approach, from breakfast until bed time!
